A Nigerian woman has gone against a non-government organization (NGO) and her kinsmen to bail out her husband who was arrested and jailed for brutally beating her.
An NGO, DPA Family Law Clinic, in a Facebook post on Thursday, said they got the abusive husband who was unemployed, arrested after he allegedly assaulted his wife.
The group said they were shocked to learn that the same woman has gone and paid N10,000 to secure her husband’s release after his kinsmen abandoned him “to die in prison.”
The woman, who is the breadwinner of the family, explained that she got her husband out of the station because if he is taken to court, they will jail him and she will be all alone.
The post reads, “We got her husband arrested and detained for beating her and doing this to her. His kinsmen refused to come to bail him out. They said he should die there. Guess who went behind us to bail him out? This is how the woman’s sister narrated it to us:
“My sister paid 10k to bail the husband because his people refused to come. She said that even if they take man to court that he will still end up in prison and she can’t bear it. She had been the one paying all bills including rent because he’s not working.”
KanyiDaily had also reported how a 27-year-old housewife was arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband to death over sexual demand in Oyo State.
