Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has said former president, Olusegun Obasanjo should not be attacked over his endorsement of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
Obasanjo on Sunday, January 1st, endorsed Obi as his preferred candidate for the 2023 elections.
In the 2023 New Year message signed by the former president and made available to newsmen by his aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo described Obi as his mentee and said the former Anambra State governor had an edge in the 2023 elections.
Reactions and attacks have since been trailing the endorsement.
But in a tweet on his official handle on Monday, Sani said the former president has made his choice and he is entitled to his opinion.
According to him, the elder statesman should not be attacked, adding that those who can’t get his endorsement should seek that of former Heads of State, Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida, and Abdulsallam Abubakar.
He argued that these ex-leaders are equally credible.
The former senator also joked that the president of Brekete, a magazine programme on Radio and Television, Ahmed Isah is also available for those seeking endorsements.
Sani said, “Obasanjo has made his choice. He is entitled to his opinion. He should not be attacked.
“Those who can’t get his endorsement should seek that of Gowon, IBB, or Abdulsallam, they are equally credible former military and political leaders.
“Ordinary President of Berekete is also available.”
