KanyiDaily recalls that INEC had promised before the elections that the results from polling units would be uploaded immediately to its central server, iRev, for quick collation of the results.
However during the election, the BVAS were said not have been working and the results were collated manually, causing many to doubt about the authenticity of the results being released by the electoral body.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) at the National Collation Centre in Abuja on Monday had protested the failure of the commission to ask its officials to upload the results on the INEC portal from the polling units.
But the INEC Chairman, Mahood Yakubu shrugged off the demands by the political party to pause the ongoing collation over allegations of electoral manipulation and compromise.
On Monday, some opposition parties including PDP and LP staged a walkout during the collation of results over alleged discrepancies in the released results and INEC’s failure to upload the election results on its portal for public view.
Following INEC’s refusal to acknowledge and act on the observations and demand, a group of Nigerians staged a protest in Abuja on Tuesday.
The protesters could be seen in a video demanding the INEC chairman to fulfill his promise of conducting an electoral exercise that is transparent and open.
While alleging that the entire process had been compromised by INEC, the protesters sought for the review of the entire presidential election results.
KanyiDaily recalls that Atiku Abubakar had asked the INEC to cancel all collated results so far and declare the election inconclusive.
