APC Suspends SGF Boss Mustapha Over His Failure To Win Polling Unit During Elections

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mustapha was suspended by the APC in Gwadabawa Ward of the Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State over his failure to help the ruling party win the 2023 general election.

Chairperson of APC in Gwadabawa ward, Mu’azu Kabiru who disclosed this while addressing a press conference in Yola on Wednesday, said Mustapha failed to assist APC at the ward level when his attention was needed.

During the presidential election, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won the Yola north LGA, while in the governorship election, Aisha Binani, governorship candidate of the APC, won the LGA but not by a wide margin.

Kabiru blamed Mustapha for not winning his polling unit for the APC, stressing that the AGF failed to support the party at the ward level during the elections in the state.

He said the SGF has failed to recognise the importance of the party’s executives in Gwadabawa who have worked to keep the ward united.

The ward chairman stated that the indefinite suspension followed complaints from his ward, adding that no individual could be above the party that gave them the platform.

He did not give a duration for the suspension.

However, an acting chairperson of the APC in Adamawa, Samaila Tadawus dismissed Mustapha’s suspension, saying that it was unconstitutional.

We hereby state clearly that such suspension is unconstitutional, null and void and is of no effect, because the state working committee has warned the ward executives in the past to desist from these acts of targeting elders of the party,” Tadawus said.

The suspension or expulsion of any party member must be approved by their LGA, state working committee, and the national working committee (NWC) before it can stand.

Meanwhile, the president-elect, Bola Tinubu has reportedly travelled to Europe for medical care after he allegedly fell sick during the just concluded election.
