Elliot, who contested on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), won his re-election bid after securing 17,837 votes to defeat Adebayo Bode of the Labour Party (LP) who polled 7,822 votes, and Thompson Sulaimon Abolaji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 1,045 votes.
In a video circulating on social media, Elliot could be seen rejoicing with his supporters as they celebrated his win in Surulere, chanting in Yourba that “they voted and won”.
Elliot appreciated Femi Gbajabiamila, the speaker of the house of representatives, for his support towards a successful outing in the state assembly election in Surulere.
He said, “Many many many thanks to my Father, mentor, leader and speaker of the nation @speakergbaja Rep Femi Gbajabiamila. Thank you boss. Most grateful. @olanrewaju_smart thank you dear brother”.
