Obi is seeking to challenge the process by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that led to the declaration of the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, as the winner of the presidential election held on February 25.
KanyiDaily recalls that Peter Obi had insisted that he won the election and would explore all legal and peaceful options to prove that and reclaim the mandate of the people.
Chief Spokesman of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign of the Labour Party, Dr. Yunusa Tanko announced the petition in a short message shared on his Twitter page in the early hours of Tuesday.
He wrote, “It is official the Labor Party Presidential candidate Peter OBI has filed his petition to the presidential elections tribunal in Abuja. The process of reclaiming the people’s mandate has started.”
KanyiDaily recalls that APC has appointed 12 senior advocates of Nigeria (SANs) to defend Bola Tinubu against Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the presidential election tribunal.
