KanyiDaily recalls that Tems was nominated with popular singer, Rihanna, for her contribution as a songwriter on ‘Lift Me Up,’ one of the songs on Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
The Nigerian singer was nominated alongside ‘Applause’ from ‘Tell It like a Woman’ (Diane Warren), ‘Hold My Hand’ from ‘Top Gun Maverick’ (Lady Gaga and BloodPop), ‘This Is a Life’ from ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ (Ryan Lott, David Byrne and Mitski).
The 27-year-old sensation made history by becoming the first Nigerian artist to earn an Oscar nomination.
She, however, lost the Oscar for Best Original Song to ‘Naatu Naatu’ from ‘RRR’, which is composed by MM Keeravani, with lyrics by Chandrabose and vocals by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava.
Tems might have lost the award, but she definitely stole the with her stunning outfit at the ceremony which took place at the Dolby Theatre, Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles.
She rocked a white Lever Couture gown, which featured an enormous bridal headpiece, that stunned the audience on the red carpet at the Oscars Awards on Sunday.
But when she took her seat in the audience, it was a different story as fans were quick to point out that her dress was blocking the view of people behind her.
