United States Mission in Nigeria congratulated Aderinto in a tweet on its official handle.
The tweet reads, “Kudos to 🇺🇸-🇳🇬 Professor of History and African and African Diaspora Studies at @FIU, Saheed Aderinto, the first Nigerian to receive the $300,000 Dan David Prize—the largest financial reward for excellence in the historical discipline in the world.”
Professor Aderinto on February 28th was announced as one of the winners of the 2023 Dan David Prize.
The prize is a major international award that recognises and supports outstanding contributions to the study of history and other disciplines that shed light on the human past.
It is considered to be the “largest history prize in the world.”
