According to reports, the Sudanese paramilitary forces claim to have seized the presidential palace and set the civilian planes ablaze in an apparent coup attempt.
However, the military said it was fighting back.
Also, there were reports of heavy gunfire in the capital, Khartoum as clashes between the Sudanese army and its paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted after days of tension between the two forces.
The RSF said it had gained control of Khartoum international airport, Merowe Airport, al-Obeid Airport, and the presidential palace, after an attack on its military base in south Khartoum at about 9 am on Saturday.
The army said it was fighting the RSF at sites the paramilitaries said they had taken. The army also said it had taken some RSF bases and denied that the RSF had taken Merowe airport.
