“I’m In Disbelief” – Atiku Kicks As US Secretary Of State, Antony Blinken Calls Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has kicked againt the recent phone conversation between US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and President-elect Bola Tinubu.

It was gathered that Bliken phoned Tinubu on Tuesday after announcing the imposition of visa restrictions on specific individuals who undermined the democratic process during the 2023 elections.

Blinken, in a statement by the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Matthew Miller, told Tinubu that the Joe Biden administration is committed to strengthening ties with Nigeria.

He stated that the US-Nigeria partnership is built on shared interests and strong people-to-people ties and that those links should continue strengthening under Tinubu’s tenure.

The US Secretary added that he and Tinubu discussed the importance of inclusive leadership that represents all Nigerians and reforms to support the economic growth of Nigeria.

Atiku Reacts To US State Secretary’s Call To Tinubu

Reacting on his Twitter page, Atiku questioned Blinken’s decision to contact Tinubu, given US’s well-informed knowledge of the alleged fraudulent election that took place on February 25.

He emphasized that bestowing legitimacy upon an election widely regarded as fraudulent goes against the principles upheld by the United States, known as a bastion of democracy.

“I am in disbelief that @SecBlinken called Tinubu, a contradiction to the publicly stated position of the US on Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election. This is inconceivable considering that America, as the bastion of democracy, is well briefed on the sham election of February 25.

“To give legitimacy to the widely acknowledged fraudulent election in Nigeria can be demoralising to citizens who have hedged their bet on democracy and the sanctity of the ballot @StateDept @POTUS @USinNigeria,” he wrote.

KanyiDaily recalls that Atiku Abubakar said that Bola Tinubu is unfit to govern Nigeria because of the controversy trailing his true identity, age, state of origin and educational qualifications.
