Jigawa Senatorial Candidate, Rabiu Taura Is Dead

Rabiu Isah Taura, the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) candidate for the Jigawa Northwest Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections, has sadly passed away.

It was gathered that Rabiu Taura succumbed to a prolonged battle with a severe backache on Thursday morning, May 18, 2023.

Hon. Muhammad Mago, a friend of the deceased, expressed deep sorrow over Taura’s untimely demise which he decribed as a great loss to both his immediate family, the entire Jigawa people and beyond

Reflecting on their friendship, Hon. Muhammad Mago said, “The death of Rabi’u Taura has truly shocked me. I pray to Allah SWT to grant him eternal rest and provide his family with the strength to endure this irreparable loss.”

Prior to his passing, Taura had held various significant positions in the state.

He previously served as the Jigawa State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later assumed the roles of Commissioner of Land and Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources during the administration of Sule Lamido.

Taura subsequently joined NNPP alongside his political mentor, Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, who contested the Jigawa governorship seat under the NNPP.

The funeral proceedings for Alhaji Rabi’u Isah Taura will be conducted on Thursday, following Islamic rites, in Taura Local Government, where he will be laid to rest.

Taura’s death leaves a void in the political landscape of Jigawa, and his contributions and service to the state will be remembered and cherished.

This comes one month after his Excellency, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju (Odera) a former Governor of Anambra State, died at 78 years.
