Tinubu Departs Nigeria For Europe To Reportedly Continue His Medical Treatment In France

The President-elect, Bola Tinubu has flown to Europe on Wednesday, a few weeks after he returned to Nigeria following his medical treatment in France.

Although Tinubu was said to have departed Nigeria for Europe on Wednesday for a working visit, SaharaReporters learnt that the president-elect returned to France on Tuesday night to see his doctors, in preparation for his inauguration on May 29.

“He is returning to France to see his doctors ahead of the stress of the inauguration period so he can prepare for his swearing-in,” a top source in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) told SaharaReporters.

But in a statement on Wednesday,  Tinubu’s Media Aide, Tunde Rahman said the president-elect travelled on a working visit and is scheduled to engage with investors and other key allies to finetune the transition plans with some of his key aides.

The statement did not disclose his exact whereabout in Europe but stated that he is scheduled to return shortly for preparations towards his official swearing-in as the 16th President of the country on May 29, 2023.

The statement reads, “Already, meetings with multi-sectoral actors in Europe’s business community including manufacturing, agriculture, tech and energy have been lined up.

“Asíwájú Tinubu hopes to convince them of Nigeria’s readiness to do business under his leadership through mutually-beneficial partnerships premised on jobs creation and skills acquisition.

“Reviving the country’s economy forms a major plank of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and the meeting is part of his efforts to re-establish Nigeria’s importance in the global economic chain and create empowering opportunities for the country’s huge youth population.

“The President-elect has hitherto promised to hit the ground running and the visit is reflective of his commitment to the promise as he has already begun talks with global actors in the important areas of the economy and security.

On May 1, SaharaReporters reported that Tinubu visited Lagos to take a medical rest and see some of his doctors who had arrived in the country to give him follow-up medical care.

It was learnt that some members of the medical team who treated Tinubu in France were in Lagos to give the ‘President-elect’ follow-up treatment, which is the care given to a patient over time after finishing treatment for a disease.

This involves monitoring a person’s health over time after treatment.

A source had told SaharaReporters that Tinubu who recently moved into the Defence House in Abuja ahead of his inauguration in May, was in Lagos on the weekend of April 29, 2023, to see his foreign doctors who were purposely in the country for him.

Tinubu sneaked into Lagos on Saturday. He is taking a medical rest to see some doctors who are in Nigeria to follow up on his treatment,” the source had said.

Tinubu’s recent trip to Europe comes a few weeks after he returned to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, following his medical trip in France.

KanyiDaily recalls that Bola Tinubu’s team had insisted that he was on vacation in France, it was gathered that the president-elect fell ill after the March 18 governorship and State Assembly elections and was flown to France for medical treatment.
