KanyiDaily recalls that some policemen had raided Seun Kuti’s home after he was arrested on Monday, May 15, for slapping an officer on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
Lagos police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin claimed that the discovery of “suspicious items” in Kuti’s house prompted the police to search the musician’s home.
Motunrayo Kuti has shared a video on her Instagram page, showing how their family members handled the police officers who arrived to search Seun’s house.
In the video, Seun Kuti can be seen handcuffed at the entrance, while his family insisted on thoroughly searching the police officers before granting them access to the premises.
Motunrayo further expressed that the security personnel were treated with a similar lack of respect, being given strict orders and treated as mere “zombies”.
She wrote, “We sef treated them like zombies, stand attention, empty your pocket, stand here first, commit you show no go that side o na there my juju dey.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Seun Kuti turned himself to the police on Monday, after the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered his arrest for slapping an officer on Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
On Tuesday, Seun Kuti was arraigned before the Yaba Magistrate’s Court to face charges of assaulting a police officer, a violation of Section 356 of the Nigerian Criminal Code Act.
