In response to the recent security alert issued by the DSS regarding potential terrorist attacks on religious and recreational sites during the Eid Kabir festival, Rev’d Joseph John Hayab, Chairman of the Kaduna Chapter of CAN, expressed his views on the matter.
Hayab remarked, “These alerts, like many in the past, tend to coincide with upcoming celebrations. We sincerely hope that they are not mere distractions. As a covert intelligence agency, the DSS should take proactive measures to track down terrorists and criminals before they can carry out their plans. Nigerians are already enduring trauma and should not be subjected to further distress. Fortunately, we have a new government in place with recently appointed security chiefs, except for the DSS.”
Hayab stressed the need for proactive rather than reactive measures, emphasizing that everyone should remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. He also emphasized that security is the responsibility of all citizens, and called for united efforts to address security challenges through strategic action, not mere propaganda.
