Father Arrested for Selling Son in Akwa Ibom State

The Akwa Ibom state police command arrested Gabriel Okon Ekpiri, a resident of Ekit Itam Akpan Obong in Itu Local Government Area, for allegedly selling his own nine-year-old son for the sum of N400,000.

Odiko MacDon, the spokesperson for the state police command, issued a statement on Tuesday, June 26, revealing the details of the arrest. The Quick Intervention Squad (QIS) of the state Police Command played a crucial role in capturing the suspect.

Describing the incident as both barbaric and completely unacceptable, the police spokesperson confirmed that the accused individual has admitted to the crime. Ekpiri attributed his actions to the influence of the devil and the dire economic hardships he faced.

This alarming case highlights the urgent need for society to address the underlying issues of poverty and moral degradation. The Akwa Ibom state police command is working diligently to ensure that justice is served in this distressing matter.
