I settled for acting after I failed law – Actress Genoveva Umeh

Genoveva Umeh, a Nigerian-British actress, has revealed that, despite the fact that acting has always been her love, she never studied it.

She stated that she studied law at university but realized that acting was her true love after failing law in her first year.

The actor stated this on the most recent episode of the Is This Seat Taken podcast, which is hosted by Nollywood actress Chinasa Anukam.

“I would say that studying law was my decision,” she explained. But I also realized I was a first-generation immigrant since I know how hard my parents struggled to get me into the UK.

“So I didn’t want to do a course that I was just doing as a hobby.” I thought acting was a pastime.

“I literally went from thinking of it [acting] as a hobby in university to thinking, yeah, when I graduate, I’ll come back and pursue this.”

“However, that didn’t happen until after I failed my first year.” My first year of law school was a failure. That’s when I realized I needed to start thinking about what I genuinely wanted to achieve rather than what I felt I had to do.”
