The 57-year-old Australian manager, who won back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles with Celtic during his two seasons in charge, will replace Antonio Conte at the Premier League club.
Postecoglou is Spurs’ fourth permanent manager since Mauricio Pochettino led the club to the Champions League final in the 2018-2019 season, following Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Antonio Conte.
Daniel Levy, the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, expressed his excitement about Postecoglou’s arrival on Tuesday, saying the club aims to bring in a fresh perspective and an attacking style of play, along with a positive mentality.
He praised the new manager for his proven ability to develop players and his understanding of the vital connection between the academy and the first team—a philosophy that aligns with the values of the club.
“We are excited to have Ange join us, Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play. He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy – everything that is important to our club,” Levy said.
Since Conte’s departure in March, Tottenham had been actively searching for the right candidate, with interim managers Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason temporarily overseeing the team.
Ange Postecoglou, who is the first-ever Australian manager in the Premier League, arrives at Tottenham after achieving remarkable success in Scotland, securing a domestic treble and winning five out of six available trophies during his time at Celtic.
KanyiDaily recalls that in 2021, Tottenham Hotspur sacked Jose Mourinho as head coach after just 17 months in charge of the Premier League club.
