President Tinubu Sends Ministerial List To DSS, EFCC For Scrutiny

President Bola Tinubu has sent the list of ministerial nominees to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Department of State Services, and other security agencies.

According to Punch, the EFCC, DSS, and other security agencies are nearing the completion of their mandatory screenings of the ministerial nominees’ list, which President Tinubu will soon send to the National Assembly for confirmation.

The Nigerian constitution mandates the president to name his cabinet within 60 days after taking the oath of office and transmits it to the Senate for confirmation.

As Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, expectations on the ministerial list have heightened as the president have spent over 40 days in office, only 18 days left until this deadline.

It was gathered that five former governors including Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Abdulahi Ganduje (Kano), Abubakar Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Muhammad Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa) and Nyesom Wike (Rivers) were among the ministerial nominees.

Last week, Dele Alake, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, stated during a news conference that the ministerial list would be released soon.

“About the ministerial list, the simple truth is this is an executive presidency. We’re not running a parliamentary system. So the President, the bucks stop on his table, and he decides when it’s fit and proper for him to make his cabinet list,” Alake said

Nigerians await the unveiling of President Tinubu’s ministerial nominees, which will play a significant role in shaping the administration and governance of the country.

KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu recently approved the setting up of a Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
