Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ Becomes Most-Streamed African Song In US, Surpassing CKay’s ‘Love Nwantiti’

Afrobeats singer, Rema has continued to make waves as his hit song, ‘Calm Down,’ achieved another remarkable milestone.

Rema’s hit song “Calm Down” has now become the most streamed African song in the history of the United States, surpassing “Love Nwantiti” by his fellow Nigerian artist, Ckay.

The 23-year-old singer has been setting records with the success of ‘Calm Down,’, particularly after featuring American songstress, Selena Gomez in the remix.

Confirming the achievement via its Twitter handle, a music statistics firm, Chart Data wrote: “@heisrema’s ‘Calm Down’ is now the #1 most streamed Afrobeats song in US history, surpassing @ckay_yo’s ‘love nwantiti’.”

Both versions of the song have amassed over half a billion streams on popular platforms like Spotify and YouTube.

The remix featuring Selena Gomez also made history by becoming the highest-peaking Nigerian song on the US Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 3.

“Calm Down” is also the first African song to top the American radio chart.

KanyiDaily recalls that Selena Gomez had taken to social media to pen a note of appreciation to Rema for featuring her on his hit song, “Calm Down”.
