He stated this during an interview with Punch on the paper’s Sunday Scoop segment.
According to Baba Fryo, some veteran artistes in the country lack the courage to sing the truth.
The singer, who didn’t however mention the name of any musician said, “Some veteran artistes don’t have the courage to sing (the truth) anymore. Songs nowadays don’t address reality in their messages. The youth have their own kind of music, and the adults have theirs as well. I still sing my kind of music because I am courageous.”
The singer also disclosed that there was no more love in the entertainment industry.
He said, “Entertainers don’t help their colleagues. Even if they (colleagues) post their problems on social media, entertainers do not respond. There is no love in the entertainment business, whether in movies, music, or other sectors. They believe in ‘I better pass you.’ When some of them see one complain, it makes them happy. We must show love in order to grow.”
The “Dem go dey pose” crooner also recalled how he overcame depression in 2020 when his son was ill.
“I tackled it the way I could. I still had fans who love me, and they supported me. I found victory at last.”
The singer also noted that his next song, Little Love, was a product of the experiences he had during the last elections.
He said, “My next song is based on the experience I had during the last election. Politicians have caused a lot of tribal division in the country. The only thing we can do with music is to bring everyone back together with love.”
