TETFUND: 28 Tertiary Institutions To Get N174m For Books, Furniture

Twenty-eight (28) tertiary institutions across the country will receive the sum of N174m from the Federal Government through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for the purchase of furniture, books, and ICT equipment.

This was contained in a document prepared by the Education Support Services of TETFund and cited by newsmen on Sunday night.

According to the document, the agency noted that it had earlier disbursed the sum of N1.6bn to 44 institutions for the purchase of the same resources.

The N174m to be released is for the second half of 2023.

Reports say the Department of Education Support Services was created to manage and implement some of the academic content-based intervention programme of TETFund in public tertiary institutions of the country.

In the summary of the final tranche of disbursement as indicated by the TETFund, the sum of N46.5m will be disbursed to five universities; N34.5m to seven polytechnics while N93m will be disbursed to 16 Colleges of Education.

Similarly, the agency noted that to facilitate the implementation of the Higher Education Book Development Programme, it constituted a group TETFund Board, with a membership of 99 academics under the chairmanship of Prof. Charles Aworh.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have seized no fewer than 4,560 kilograms of skunk in interdiction operations in Lagos, Adamawa, and Osun states.

The operatives also raided a skucchies factory in Ogun and arrested four members of a drug syndicate including two church officials; a female staff of a courier company and another lady, involved in trafficking lethal opioid, fentanyl in Delta.
