This is because the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal is sitting for the adoption of written addresses.
The state police Commissioner, Husaini Gumel announced the ban at the command’s headquarters.
Gumel said the ban was informed by the intelligence reports that revealed that both the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) are mobilising for street protests against the tribunal sitting.
Kanyi Daily recalls that the current Governor of the state, Abba Yusuf of the NNPP caused an upset in the state by defeating the governorship candidate of the APC and the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Yusuf Gawuna in the March 18th governorship election held across the country.
Gawuna is the immediate past Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s anointed candidate, while Yusuf is the anointed candidate of the former governor of Kano state and presidential candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Yusuf the winner at the end of the collation across 44 local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
The returning officer, Ahmad Dokko Ibrahim, announced that Abba Yusuf won the election with 1,019,602 votes, while Gawuna got 890,705 votes.
The 2023 governorship election in the state and its outcome, is seen by many as a battle of supremacy between Ganduje and Kwankwaso, both long-time political rivals.
A few weeks ago, Ganduje publicly said he would have slapped Kwankwaso while speaking to journalists at the State House after he met with President Bola Tinubu.
