KanyiDaily had reported how Farida Sobowale, the owner of House of Phreedah, was intercepted during an attempt to leap into the lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
In a viral video, the socialite was seen crying bitterly while being consoled to abstain from leaping, with rescuers assuring her of the unnecessary nature of taking her own life. Eventually, she was ushered back into her black Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and transported to an undisclosed location.
Following her rescue, Farida shared another video where she attributed her actions to a culmination of frustrations, a failed marriage, and various other factors that culminated in a dramatic incident on Thursday night.
In the video, the fair-complexioned entrepreneur who owns a beauty lounge and spa located at Akerele Street, Surulere, Lagos, lamented that her lavish N100 million marriage to another prominent Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja, crashed after just two months.
Farida said that her recent failed marriage pushed her to a point of despair and depression, leading her to contemplate suicide as she stood on the Third Mainland Bridge.
She disclosed that her estranged husband had vowed to support her through thick and thin, ensuring that they would bear children together, but he failed to uphold these promises.
“Friends and families warned me not to go into the marriage. They told me that the man only wanted my money but I was recalcitrant.
“It was love that pushed me into this. He told me that he was going to be with me, make me bore children for him.
“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.
“I have forgiven my ex-husband. May God provide him with another wife,” Farida Sobowale added.
