The fire, which broke out on Wednesday morning, impacted a significant section of the airport, specifically the primary gateway area.
In response to the outbreak, firefighters were quickly mobilized to contain the fire which disrupted some airport operations.
As of the time of this report, passengers and airport personnel are undergoing evacuation procedures in the building.
A Twitter user identified as Morris Monye also confirmed that the fire affected a portion of the administrative office belonging to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Monye revealed that passengers are currently unable to proceed with their travel due to the disruptions caused by the incident, leading to considerable dissatisfaction among them.
He wrote, “Passengers on MMA Terminal 1 are unable to undergo immigration processing due to network complications,” said Morris Monye on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Consequently, all passengers are currently unable to proceed with their travel plans. This is as a result of a fire incident that occurred earlier this morning, which has been successfully extinguished.
“Regrettably, passengers cannot be processed at present, causing considerable dissatisfaction among them.”
