Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu joined other passengers for the inaugural train ride of Lagos state Blue Line rail.
The journey commenced at approximately 9:13 am on Monday from the Marina train station and included brief stops at the national theatre in Iganmu and Alaba to allow passengers to disembark. The train reached the Mile 2 station by 9:35 am.
Following this, Governor Sanwo-Olu and some passengers returned to Marina with the train.
Speaking to reporters after the trip, the governor praised the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) and other stakeholders for successfully completing the project.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced that the cowry card, an e-payment system already used for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), would be the accepted means of payment for the train service.
