Judges Arrive Courtroom To Rule On Atiku, Peter Obi’s Petitions Against Tinubu

The Justices of the Election Presidential Tribunal convened at the court premises to deliver judgment today on three petitions that are seeking to remove President Bola Tinubu from office.

The Chairing tribunal, Justice Haruna Tsammani, will be assisted by other esteemed panel members, including Justices Stephen Adah, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.

These petitions, specifically designated as CA/PEPC/03/2023, CA/PEPC/05/2023, and CA/PEPC/04/2023, have been filed by various individuals and parties. Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate, initiated one of them, while former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, representing the Peoples Democratic Party, launched another. Additionally, the Allied Peoples Movement submitted the third petition.

In the initial electoral results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on March 1, President Bola Tinubu, representing the ruling All Progressives Congress, emerged as the victor of the presidential election held on February 25.

Tinubu secured a total of 8,794,726 votes, surpassing the two principal contenders: Alhaji Atiku of the PDP, who came in second with 6,984,520 votes, and Mr. Obi of the LP, who took third place with 6,101,533 votes.

Unsatisfied with the election’s outcome, both Atiku and Peter Obi pursued legal action to challenge its validity before the tribunal. Today’s judgment will determine the fate of these petitions.

KanyiDaily recalls that the presidential election petition tribunal had announced that today’s judgement will be broadcast live in order to promote transparency and openness in the process.
