Late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad filed a petion of threat to his life againt a music promoter, Samson Erinfolami Balogun, alias Sam Larry, before his death.

Sam Larry is a close friend of singer Naira Marley, the former label boss of Mohbad, who parted ways with Marlian Records due to internal conflicts and allegations of assault.

Mohbad died under controversial circumstances on Tuesday, September 12, and was buried the following day in Ikorodu in accordance with Islamic customs.

Mohbad’s bereaved wife, Omowunmi revealed that the late singer who had issues with Naira Marley lived in constant fear and struggled until his death.

A series of old videos recently surfaced on social media showing the moment Sam Larry was harassing Mohbad on multiple occasions before his death, sparking a flurry of reactions.

In one of the video, Mohbad could be seen sitting in a wheelchair alongside fellow artist Zlatan when Sam Larry stormed the scene and physically assaulted him before Zlatan intervened to defuse the situation.

Netizens have criticized Sam Larry and demanded an explanation from Naira Marley’s camp. They are calling for accountability and justice to be served in light of the incident involving Mohbad.

However, a petition circulation on social media revealeed that three months ago, Mohbad filed a petition to the Nigerian police alleging his life was being threatened by Sam Larry and others.

According to the petition, Sam Larry, along with 15 others, stormed a video shoot involving the deceased and Zlatan Ibile, while armed and made threats of violence.

The situation escalated into property damage, with equipment worth over N5 million destroyed at the scene. Additionally, the petition claimed that MohBad was assaulted during the altercation and narrowly escaped with injuries.

In the petition, Sam Larry allegedly claimed to be working on behalf of Oba Elegushi of Lagos State, which added to the gravity of the situation.

A section of the petition read, “Sir, I call on your good office to save my life from the above mentioned persons and bring them to book.”

Dated June 27, 2023, the petition stated: “PETITION OF THREAT TO LIFE, MALICIOUS DAMAGE OF PROPERTIES VALUED THE SUM OF FIVE MILLION NAIRA, ASSAULT OCCASIONING HARM, OPPRESSION AND CONDUCT LIKELY TO CAUSE BREACH OF PEACE AGAINST SAM LARRY ELEGUSHI, ELELE, OBELE AND OTHERS

“I of the above name and address, a law abiding citizen and a Musician bring to your notice the assault and threat to my life by the above mentioned persons.

“On 25th June, 2023 while having a video shoot with another artist by name Zlatan (Ibile, the above mentioned persons numbering about fifteen led by Sam Larry Elegushi invaded the premises with dangerous arms such as guns, cutlasses etc where I was shooting video and scattered the whole process of the shooting, damaged the equipment I was using for the shooting valued about Five Million Naira and started threatening my life which in the process they became violent and assaulted me which I sustained injuries but narrowly escaped.

“Attached to this petition is the said pictures. Total amount I paid for the shooting they have destroyed is Eight Million Naira (N8,000,000) which is non-refundable.

“However, during the assault, they were boasting that they work for Oba Elegushi and that they have been asked to deal with me for reasons best known to them which till date they are still threatening to kill me if seen. Sir, I call on your good office to save my life from the above mentioned persons and bring them to book.

“Thank you for your timely intervention.”
