KanyiDaily recalls that Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 12, under circumstances that have led to conflicting reports about the cause of his death.
According to some accounts, he had sought medical treatment for an ear infection but, following an injection, he lost consciousness and did not wake up again.
Another report claims that during a recent performance at a concert in Ikorodu, he was allegedly struck with a fetish object, commonly referred to as “juju.”
Despite the controversy surrounding his death, Mohbad was buried in accordance with Islamic rites on September 13, less than 24 hours after his demise.
Videos of the burial procession have circulated on social media, with some people expressing disbelief after seeing where the famous singer would be buried beside a cassava farm.
In one of the videos recorded at his gravesite in Ikorodu, some family members could be heard warning Mohbad’s wife not to approach his burial site else they would take control of his property.
Social media users expressed outrage at the men for allegedly planning to seize Mohbad’s assets from his wife and their son.
One user, Tiaraoluwa, criticized them for their lack of decency in not allowing the deceased to be laid to rest before plotting to harass his wife and claim his belongings.
“It’s been less than 24hrs since his death and they couldn’t even muster the decency to bury him first before plotting and planning on how to harass his wife and take everything from her. A bunch of useless, opportunistic pieces of shit. I hope his spirit haunts them,” @TheOluwabukunmi wrote.
Another user, Aunty Ada, expressed concern for the late Mohbad’s wife and hoped that she had people to support and guide her during this challenging time.
Another video circulated on social media featuring a woman expressing anger over the singer’s burial location. The displeased woman claimed that they brought Mohbad’s body to the Ikorodu site so that his family could witness what his wife had done.
She mentioned their intention to purchase another piece of land but wanted the world to know about his wife’s actions, despite their earlier objections.
‘’We are going buy another piece of land but let the world know what his wife has done despite how we shouted,” the woman said.
Some Twitter users also speculated that the family’s grievance might stem from Mohbad’s failure to build a house in Ikorodu despite his fame.
KanyiDaily recalls that Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi recently revealed that the late singer lived in constant fear and struggled until his death.
