NRA plans to introduce VAR in NPFL

The Nigeria Referees Association has announced plans to implement Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology in the 2023-24 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Sanni Zubair, President of the NRA, revealed this during a media interview.

According to Zubair, the implementation of VAR would improve referee performance throughout games.

He went on to say that the organization is collaborating closely with the NPFL broadcast partner to achieve the goal.

Zubair, a retired FIFA-badged referee, is confident about the forthcoming season’s refereeing.

The new season will begin on September 9 with a match between Shooting Stars and Plateau United at Ibadan’s Lekan Salami Stadium.
