Tribunal Upholds Oborevwori’s Victory As Delta Governor, Rejects Omo-Agege’s Petition

Delta State governorship tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by Ovie Omo-Agege, the former deputy senate president, challenging the election victory of Sheriff Oborevwori as the governor of the state.

In a judgment delivered on Friday, the tribunal, led by Chibuzo Ahuchaogu affirmed the election of Oborevwori as the governor of Delta State.

The tribunal, comprising three members, ruled that Omo=Agge’s petition lacked merit, stressing that the issues raised were speculative.

According to the tribunal, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate failed to provide sufficient evidence to support allegations of non-compliance with the Electoral Act and corrupt practices.

Sheriff Oborevwori, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had defeated Omo-Agege in the March 18 governorship election. The PDP candidate secured 360,234 votes, while Omo-Agege garnered 240,229 votes.

This comes barely 24 hours after the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Kaduna sacked Governor Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
