Amapiano has overtaken afrobeats, now world’s fastest growing genre – Cassper Nyovest

Cassper Nyovest, a South African hip-hop singer, claims that Amapiano has surpassed Nigeria’s afrobeats as the “fastest growing genre in the world.”


In a recent interview with Beats N Sounds, the rapper expressed pride that South Africa now has a genre to represent it on the international arena.

Cassper Nyovest stated, “Amapiano is taking over the world’s music industry.” It is now the most popular and rapidly expanding genre.

“It’s fantastic for me that we finally have a sound that represents South Africa.” Because afrobeats primarily represented Nigeria. So the fact that we have a South African sound that represents where we come from is a good thing.”

He, however, said he has no intention of jumping on the Amapiano trend.
