Israel has asked north Gaza residents to relocate to the south of the Strip in the next 24 hours, alleging that the Palestinian Hamas militant group is using civilians in the north as human shields.
The evacuation order would affect the entire population of Gaza City and surrounding areas, totaling 1.1 million people.
The United Nations has warned that the order will have “devastating humanitarian consequences” and urged Israel to rescind the directive.
In response, the Palestinian Hamas militant group has advised residents not to leave their homes.
The ongoing conflict escalated on October 7 when Hamas launched a coordinated incursion into Israel, resulting in 1,300 casualties and the kidnapping of 150 Israelis.
Israel, in retaliation, intensified air bombardments and imposed a blockade on food, fuel, and electricity in Gaza, leading to a dire humanitarian crisis with hospitals facing shortages.
The death toll in Gaza has surpassed 1,500, and Israel has positioned tanks and artillery around the territory in preparation for a ground invasion.
Israel has vowed not to lift restrictions on Gaza restrictions on Gaza until Hamas frees all hostages, maintaining a stance that adds to the complex and volatile situation in the conflict.
KanyiDaily recalls that around 1,500 Hamas fighters’ bodies have been discovered in Israel near the Gaza Strip.
