What my son told me about Naira Marley — Mohbad’s father testifies in court

Mr Joseph Aloba, the father of deceased musician Ilerioluwa Aloba (aka Mohbad), testified in a coroner’s court on Wednesday that his son had been living with singer Azeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley) since December 2019.

Joseph testified before a coroner’s inquiry concerning his son’s death.

The musician died on September 12 and was buried the next day. He was 27 years old at the time.

His death sparked outrage, causing the Lagos State Government to order a coroner’s inquest.

The inquest commenced on October 13 in the Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State.

Joseph informed Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, the coroner, that he and his son had been living together for 18 years.

He claimed he had no idea where his late son resided with Marley.

He testified that his son left his home at the age of consent and began assisting Marley while pursuing his own musical career.

According to Joseph, he saw the deceased three days before his death.

He also stated that he only saw the deceased’s casket in a photograph.

According to him, his son told dad that he could handle his disagreement with Marley.

Joseph stated that his mother-in-law had custody of the deceased’s landed property, and that the dead frequently told him about his holdings owned by his wife and her family.

He said that Mohbad’s wife gave him sleeping medication.
