In a statement signed by Governor Bello in Abuja over the weekend, he categorically labeled these claims as false and urged the public to dismiss them.
The governor clarified that the incident in question was nothing more than a minor disagreement between his personal security team and military personnel responsible for road protection.
Yahaya Bello emphasized that there was no actual attempt on his life.
He explained that a minor altercation occurred between members of the Nigerian Police Force within his convoy and a military unit tasked with highway security. This, he asserted, was simply a result of both groups performing their lawful security duties.
The Governor commended the security agencies for their collaborative efforts in improving the security of lives and property in Kogi State.
However, he also called upon the higher-ups of these agencies to investigate any potential overzealousness or unprofessional conduct by their personnel involved in the incident and apply the necessary sanctions.
The Governor urged Kogi citizens to disregard any attempts by political opportunists to exploit the incident and destabilize the political landscape, especially as the state’s 2023 governorship elections, scheduled for November 11, draw closer.
He reassured the public of his safety and the adequacy of security measures to ensure peaceful, free, and fair elections.
Kanyi Daily recalls that Yahaya Bello on Saturday, escaped death in a gun attack at his convoy.
