The Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre (LBSSC) is thrilled to announce the 2023 International Sustainability Conference (ISC) co-convened by Lagos Business School and IHS Nigeria Ltd. It holds virtually tomorrow Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm (West Africa Time GMT+1)
The annual thought leadership and knowledge-sharing forum is also supported by Nestlé Nigeria PLC, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Shared Value Africa Initiative (SVAI). This virtual conference is an annual gathering of global business leaders, sustainability champions, thought leaders, academics and professionals from various sectors and countries.
This year’s edition is themed ‘The Leadership Imperative for Sustainable Development’ and the sessions will focus on best practices, especially from the private sector in leading and shaping businesses, economies, communities, markets and sectors by integrating sustainability thinking and practice. The conference will also showcase how such actions have contributed to development and policy priority outcomes especially related to the Africa Agenda 2063 Goals and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The ISC is not just another conference, it’s the flagship dialogue-to-action forum of LBSSC that unites key multi-sectoral players and stakeholders to apprise them of emergent business models, and initiatives that mainstream sustainability into business operations from end-to-end in a manner that benefits communities, people, the environment and the organisations that practise them. This year’s keynote speaker is Michael Salvatico, Head of Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Africa ESG Solutions, S & P Global Sustainable1.
Also, the conference will play host to panelists who will speak on the sub-themes of ‘Leading for Climate Resilience Towards Sustainable Business Performance’ and ‘Business Models Innovating for Shared Value’. They will share insights, learnings and recommendations for advancing the sustainable development agenda for Africa and the world at large.
The Head, Sustainability at Lagos Business School, Mrs Orevaoghene Atanya, remarked,
‘The ISC has built an international following as a catalyst for thought leadership and insights for business and community transformation, and this year’s edition promises to be no exception. This year, the conference will delve into the crucial role of leadership in charting a course, and galvanising critical stakeholders to deliver tangible business and impact outcomes that can fast-track sustainable development objectives which will impact the triple bottom line of people, planet and profits”.
“At the LBSSC, we will continue to advance knowledge and responsible business practice through information, education and most importantly practical solutions to help business leaders lead better and drive more sustainable outcomes for their businesses, their host communities and the environment”.
Prof Chris Ogbechie, Dean, Lagos Business School and pioneer Director of the LBS Sustainability Centre said;
“I encourage every business leader who wants to build a sustainable business which will succeed in the short and long term to register and attend the 2023 ISC.
