Celebrity chef, Guy Flieri worth $70m says he won’t give any of his wealth to his children when he dies

Guy Flieri, the celebrity chef, has declared that he would not leave his fortune to his children when he dies.

Guy won the Food Network’s popular television competition show “Next Food Network Star” in 2006 and was given his own show, the Emmy-nominated “Guy’s Big Bite.” Guy has since taken culinary television by storm as the host of top-rated shows such as the classic, Emmy-nominated “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.”

Forbes estimates his net worth at $70 million. On Wednesday, December 13, he announced that he does not intend to give his adolescent sons a free pass in life because of their surname.

“I’ve told them the same thing my dad told me. My dad says, ‘When I die, you can expect that I’m going to die broke, and you’re going to be paying for the funeral,’ ” Fieri, 55, told Fox News.

“And I told my boys, ‘None of this that we’ve been … that I’ve been building are you going to get unless you come and take it from me.’ ”

The “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” star told the outlet that by the time his kids complete school, he wants them to have multiple degrees and be self-sufficient.

According to the chef, his youngest son Ryder, 17, had issues with his decrees.

“My youngest son, Ryder, is a senior in high school getting ready to graduate, or you know, going to graduate in the spring,” Fieri said.

“And he says, ‘Dad, this is so unfair.'” I haven’t yet finished high school, and you’re already pressuring me to earn an MBA? “Can I just make it through college?”

He revealed that he modelled his children’s training after basketball legend Shaquile O’neal.

“Shaq put it best,” he remarked.

“Shaq mentioned that once regarding his kids. ‘If you want any of this cheese, you’ve got to give me two degrees,’ he says. My two degrees, on the other hand, indicate that I am a postgraduate student. They’re on their way now.”

His oldest son Hunter, who recently got engaged to professional pickleball player Tara Bernstein, is presently pursuing a master’s degree while still working for his famous father, according to the “80 for Brady” alum.

“I think the kid’s going to explode,” Fieri said of his son, who is 27 years old.

In addition to his own children, Fieri and his wife, Lori, gained custody of their nephew Jules Fieri after his mother died in 2011.
