The request was made in response to the recent suspected food poisoning incident involving 18 primary school students at St. James Primary School in Osogbo.
KanyiDaily recalls that 18 students reportedly fell ill after consuming their free O-Meal meal on Monday. They were taken to an undisclosed hospital, received treatment, and were later discharged.
Reacting to the situation, Osun APC Chairman Sooko Lawal, in a statement on Tuesday in Osogbo, described the incident as another illustration of the state’s ineffective leadership.
In the statement issued to journalists by Kola Olabisi, the party’s Director of Media and Information, Lawal stated that the incident was a source of embarrassment to the populace, shedding light on the apparent unpreparedness of the responsible authorities.
“How would the food vendors be dedicated when they are paid peanuts and are not supplied with the right food supplies? ” Lawal said.
He urged stakeholders to come together and condemn the casual approach to governance, citing the suspected poisoning of 18 primary school students as an example of this laissez-faire attitude.
