Supreme Court Validates Peter Mbah’s Election As Enugu Governor

The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Peter Mbah as the governor of Enugu State, resolving all issues in his favor.

The five-member panel, led by Justice Mohammed Garba, ruled that the Labour Party and its candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, failed to substantiate allegations of substantial non-compliance with electoral law.

The court also dismissed the NYSC certificate forgery claim, a key basis for the Labour Party candidate’s attempt to disqualify Governor Peter Mbah.

Mbah, who ran as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the March 18 governorship election, had his victory affirmed by the Court of Appeal in Lagos on November 10.

The Court of Appeal, led by Justice Tani Yusuf-Hassan, dismissed the Labour Party’s three grounds of appeal, citing insufficient evidence to support their claims that the governor was not qualified to contest the election.

KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Peter Mbah recently went around Enugu metropolis, urging people to disregard Monday’s sit-at-home order and go about their various businesses.
