On Christmas Eve, Osimhen signed a contract extension with Napoli.
The Nigeria international has officially signed a contract extension with the Serie A champions until 2026.
The deal also includes a release clause in the range of €130m to €140m.
With Napoli struggling to duplicate last season’s form, which saw them win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years, Canovi has announced that the 24-year-old would depart the Partenopei at the conclusion of the season.
He also stated that the contract renewal will result in an increase in the price of the forward.
“Napoli have been in difficulty since the start of the championship. In my opinion the departure of (Luciano) Spalletti and (Cristiano) Giuntoli caused what is happening,” Canovi told TMW.
“Having let both of them leave, the club was practically massacred, they were the cornerstones of Napoli who won. Giuntoli and especially Spalletti.
“Osimhen is a renewal that simply serves to increase the price. In my opinion he will go away in June.”
Kanyidaily recalls that Victor Osimhen was ranked 8th best player in the world.
