Over 50 houses and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in the devastating incident.
The community’s head, Chief Ayatse Agubor, informed reporters on Friday that the fire broke out around 10 am while community residents were on the farm.
Despite their efforts to prevent the fire from affecting their farm products, they soon realized that the entire village was engulfed in flames.
Agubor cautioned youths in the area against unauthorized bush burning, emphasizing consequences for those caught in such activities.

She reported losing over 10 bags of maize, soya beans, and more than 100,000, hidden within her bags of burnt corn
Responding to the incident, Mr. Henry Agba, the caretaker chairman of Gwer-West LGA, stated that there would be no tolerance for unauthorized bush burning in the area.
Agba said that the council intends to send a team to evaluate the extent of the destruction caused by the inferno.
The findings will be reported to the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) to facilitate assistance for the affected residents
