It was reported that a woman, whose name is still unknown, was beheaded on Sunday night near the banking layout of Udo Udoma Avenue in Uyo.
This area was both her residence and the location of her farming activities before her untimely death.
Sources revealed on Tuesday that her lifeless body was discovered the following day (Monday), in a pool of her blood, with her severed head lying beside her.
“We were shocked on Monday morning when we came to work and found the corpse lying close to our entrance,” a source who pleaded anonymity said on Tuesday.
“The deceased cultivated a piece of land around the banking layout and lived within the far,m” another source said.
On Tuesday, Odiko Macedon, the Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, confirmed the incident to the press, revealing that the command has initiated a manhunt for those responsible for the woman’s murder.
He stated that Commissioner of Police Olatoye Durosinmi has pledged to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
He said “Yes, the command has received a report of the incident and the state Commissioner of Police Olatoye Durusimmi has ordered an investigation into the incident.
“The commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi has vowed that nothing will be spared to fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly crime.
“We assure Akwa Ibom people that the perpetrators of the dastardly act will be brought to book.”
