“I Actually Stole N1 Billion, Not N55 Million” – Mr Ibu’s Daughter, Jasmine Reacts To Police Arrest

Chioma Jasmine, the adopted daughter of the ailing Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has responded to recent reports regarding her purported arrest with her stepbrother, Daniel Okafor.

KanyiDaily recalls that the police had revealed that it arrested Jasmine and Daniel over the alleged misappropriation of N55 million from funds earmarked for Mr. Ibu’s medical expenses.

The police investigation was prompted by a petition submitted by Diamond Waves Law on behalf of Mr. Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris Okafor.

According to the investigation, Daniel and Jasmine already had a sham marriage at Ikoyi registry, and had applied for visas to abscond from Nigeria with the misappropriated funds.

The police said that a sum of N50 million has been recovered from the suspects, noting the duo had squandered N5 million on questionable transactions.

While the police initially asserted the embezzlement of N55 million, Jasmine contestes the figure, claiming that the actual amount misappropriated was a billion Naira.

Reacting to the police report, Jasmine who jokingly claimed she was speaking from prison wrote, “Wrong figures; it was actually 1 Billion Naira.”

KanyiDaily recalls that social media critic, VeryDarkMan released audio recordings of Mr Ibu accusing his wife, Stella Maris, of plotting to kill him.
