Ondo PDP Chairman Suspended Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

PDP Calls For Fresh Elections In Rivers Following Defection Of 27 Lawmakers To APC

Fatai Adams, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, has faced suspension from the State Working Committee (SWC) of the opposition party.

According to the SWC, the action was initiated due to Adams’ alleged anti-party activities and the claimed infiltration of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, within the party

The suspension letter, endorsed and signed by nine SWC members, such as State Deputy Chairman Tola Alabere, Secretary Oluseye Olujim, and Publicity Secretary Kennedy Peretei, highlighted that Adams’ actions could harm the PDP’s reputation in the state.

Others who endorsed the letter included the organizing secretary, Engr. Dare Akinwale; the state vice chairman (South), Elder Amos Fadope; the state vice chairman (Central), Hon. Dayo Awude; the legal adviser, Moses Awofade; the financial secretary, Hon. Boluwaji Hamidele; and Hon. Olawumi Fasonu, serving as the treasurer

The party reaffirmed that the decision to suspend him was by the provisions stipulated in the party’s constitution.

Following Adams’ suspension, he was provided with a one-week ultimatum to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee and offer a defense against the allegations.

Under Section 58(1b. c, f. h. and i) of the PDP Constitution, as amended in 2017, the State Working Committee has approved the suspension of the State Chairman, Mr Fatai Adams, for anti-party activities and for engaging in activities likely to bring the party into disrepute.”

Kanyi Daily recalls that the Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had urged Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to delegate executive powers to Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
