Police Thwart Kidnapping, Neutralize Bandit, Recover Machine Gun in Katsina

In Katsina State yesterday, police operatives killed a bandit and recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) during an attempted kidnap in the Dandume community.

According to the statement from the command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the operatives effectively thwarted the kidnapping attempt.

He explained that the Dandume divisional police headquarters received a report regarding the movement of suspected armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, heading towards the Dandume local government area

Upon receipt of the report, promptly, DPO Dandume mobilized men of both Operation Sharan Daji and Restore Peace and responded to the scene. The team engaged the suspected bandits in a fierce gun duel and succeeded in repelling the attack.

“In the course of scanning the scene, the body of one suspected bandit as well as one general-purpose machine gun with 27 rounds of 94.5mm live ammunition were recovered,”

According to him, Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar Musa, in expressing commendation for the officers, urged the people of the state to promptly report suspected criminal activities, enabling swift action by the command and other security agencies

Kanyi Daily recalls that in Abuja, the police confirmed the killing of three notorious bandits in a forest within Bwari area council in the Federal Capital Territory and arrested over 19 suspects.
