Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the FCT, revealed this information while discussing the security crisis in the capital city during a Channels TV program on Sunday.
She said that once the Senate resumes plenary, the Minister will be summoned to explain his approach to addressing the security crisis
Senator Kingibe, elected on the Labour Party (LP) platform, expressed distress over the recent surge in kidnapping, killings, and other ominous activities perpetrated by bandits in the nation’s capital.
“It is not that I am hoping. I know he will be summoned. But whether he responds or not is a different matter entirely. But as the chief security officer of the FCT, he should have a plan.
“He should be able to tell us, the committee, and specifically me, that this is the plan for protecting the people of the FCT. Between him, the police commissioner, and the head of the DSS, they must have a plan”, the Senator said
The lawmaker further revealed a “disconnect” between her and the FCT Minister, accusing him of disregarding her messages and letters amidst the escalating insecurity in the area
