Godwin Emefiele’s Wife, Margaret Declared Wanted By EFCC Over Money Laundering

Margaret Emefiele, the wife of the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Margaret Emefiele was declared wanted along with three other people, Eric Ocheme Odoh, Anita Joy Omoile, and Jonathan Omoile, on charges of money laundering.

In a notice released on Friday by Dele Oyewale, head of media and publicity, the anti-graft agency unveiled photographs and detailed information about the accused quartet.

According to Dele Oyewale, the four people are suspected of colluding with the former CBN governor to divert substantial amounts from the federal government’s funds.

The notice issued by the EFCC highlighted the alleged conspiracy to convert significant sums of money belonging to the federal government of Nigeria.

“The public is hereby notified that persons whose photographs appear above are wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly conspiring with a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to convert huge sums of money belonging to the federal government of Nigeria and committed felony to wit; obtaining money by false pretences and stealing contrary to and punishable under Sections 411, 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,” the notice reads.

The listed individuals’ backgrounds reveal that Margaret, Anita, and Jonathan hail from Delta state, while Odoh is identified as originating from Benue.

Jonathan serves as the chief executive officer of Exact Quote BDC Limited, while Anita is noted as the CEO of Deepblue Energy Services Ltd and Lipam Investment Services Ltd.

The EFCC has called on the public to assist in providing information about the whereabouts of the wanted individuals and urged individuals with pertinent details to contact its offices nationwide.

Kanyi Daily recalls that An Abuja High Court in Maitama had granted bail to the former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele, to the tune of N300 million.
