Describing this challenging period as one of his “lowest lows,” Laycon shared on his Twitter page that in 2013, he was so financially strained that he couldn’t even afford sugar for his garri.
The BBNaija star explained that the situation was so dire that he lacked the means to purchase a sachet to “soak” the garri.
According him, he resorted to using water from the tap in his hostel’s toilet to prepare and consume the garri.
Reflecting on this difficult time, Laycon wrote, “One of my lowest lows was using Shodeinde Hostel toilet water to soak garri in 2013.
“I was alone in my wing that weekend, and I was starving. I wasn’t hungry, oh—I was starving. So, I soaked garri with no sugar and used toilet tap water to drink it… as I dey soak the garri, water dey commot for my eyes.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Laycon recently questioned the mindset of some Nigerians who are “hoping and praying” for the country not to “get better” after their favourite candidates lost in the last presidential election.
