The Taraba State Police Command in Jalingo, the state capital, announced on Monday as the freed captives were presented to journalists
Commissioner of Police David IIoyalonomo confirmed that all rescued victims are of the Mumuye ethnic group and were liberated from captivity in Yorro and Zing councils.
He emphasized that the decision to involve professional hunters and vigilantes marked a strategic shift in combating criminal activities, leading to tangible results within the state.
IIoyalonomo also paraded 10 suspected kidnappers, stating they were apprehended in Ardo-Kola Council by the police anti-kidnapping team.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to round-the-clock vigilance and ensuring a crime-free environment, emphasizing the effectiveness of diverse strategies in combating crime.
He said that several rescued victims sustained injuries of different severity levels and are currently receiving urgent medical care at the state specialist hospital.
