KanyiDaily had reported how a commanding officer, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers were surrounded and killed by some community youths on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
The 16 deceased soldiers were among the troops deployed to restore order between two warring communities: Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta.
Several houses in the coastal and rustic Okuoma community where the killing of the soldiers took place were razed Sunday morning.
Videos posted by Channels Television depicted the harrowing sight of black smoke billowing from the community’s houses, accompanied by the distant flicker of flames.
In the background, a voice could be heard saying, “Your eye go clear well well, I swear to God. No worry.”
It is not clear who razed the houses in the community or if anyone died from it was gathered that the residents of the Okuoma community have fled, fearing potential reprisal attacks from military forces.
A few months ago, four soldiers were also killed after hoodlums attacked army troops in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
