KanyiDaily recalls that Tony Aziegbemi was abducted on March 15 in Benin City’s GRA area while returning from a meeting with Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of N500 million from the PDP chair’s family.
In the early hours of Tuesday, Aziegbemi reunited with his family following his release after 11 days in detention.
Clem Aziegbemi, in a statement released on behalf of the family, said the PDP leader was released unhurt.
“As a member of the Aziegbemi family, we say thank you all for your great show of love and solidarity with us all through the period of the abduction of our beloved son, brother, cousin, and leader, Dr Tony Aziegbemi.
“Thank you, all… We are most grateful for all your valuable contributions through prayers and steadfastness. God bless,” he said.
KanyiDaily had also reported how gunmen suspected to be armed robbers attacked the Nasarawa State Ministry of Finance, Budget and Planning in Lafia and stole N100 million meant for payment of workers in the state.
